New Chickens

We got 4 Buff Orpington hens and 1 Americana hen yesterday afternoon. The Americana hen laid the first green egg this morning!
I love the coloring on the Buff Orpington hens. They are so pretty.

Chickens

We got some new chickens. We now have Silver Laced Wyandotte chicks, Cuckoo Maran chicks, Buff Minorca chicks, Barred Rock chicks, Blue Andalusian chicks, Black Andalusian chicks, Splash Andalusian chicks, and Buff Sex Link pullets. We also got a Rhode Island Red hen and 2 Barred Rock hens. We are also thinking about getting 3 Buff Orpington hens and a couple of Americanas hens. Americanas chickens are also known as the Easter Egg chicken. Their eggs are light shades of blue and green.
My favorites are the Andalusians. They are so pretty!
I am really looking forward to when they all start laying. Especially the Cuckoo Marans. Marans lay some of the darkest eggs available. They are very dark chocolate color.

Our Great Pyrenees Guard Dog

This is Rosy, our Great Pyrenees Guard dog. She is a very large dog, weighing in at about 130 pounds. She does a good job of keeping the coyotes away. We have not lost a sheep to coyotes yet.

Pictures of Our Garden

Here are a few pictures of our garden. So far we have planted, basil, oregano, thyme, sage, dill, fennel, parsley, onion, asparagus, peppers, calendula, marigold, potato, sweet potato, tomatoes, water melon, and cantaloupe.

Here are a few pictures of some of our Saint Croix Hair Sheep.

About Our Farm

We are a small family run farm, located in North Louisiana, about 30 minutes from Farmerville Louisiana. We raise St. Croix Hair Sheep, Bullmastiffs, Silver Marten Rabbits, Chickens and Dairy Cows. We are also blessed to have a wonderful Great Pyrenees livestock guardian dog that protects our flocks from coyotes and other potential predators.
